Client Information
The DES program at CHESS
is designed to assist job seekers with pre-employment activities, job
preparation, job search, job placement and job maintenance.
Pre-employment
Clients get involved with in-house programs run by CHESS, including the
Community Gardens at the Coffs Harbour Botanic Gardens, the Market Farm
near Halfway Creek, Healthy Living & Cooking classes, Community Bike
Recycling Project, Music and Art workshops to name a few.
Participation in these activities is about increasing confidence, social
interaction, learning new skills, creating a product or desired
outcome, and can also develop reliability, commitment and teamwork.
Education and further study
CHESS is able to assist clients with all aspects of studying. Some conditions may apply, so come and speak to us about your study requirements.
Job Preparation
Clients work with their case managers on:
- Preparation of resume, job application letters and selection criteria
- Training in communication, assertiveness and presentation
- Development of interview skills
- Building confidence and self esteem
- Financial assistance to attend pre-vocational courses such as computer courses, OH&S, traffic controllers, first aid, etc.
- Assistance to purchase relevant work necessities.
- Insurance coverage for work experience placements.
Job Search & Placement
CHESS works with clients in identifying possible work opportunities and
/or work experience.
Employers can be approached directly or alternatively CHESS will provide
the participant with support to approach employers themselves.
CHESS can also offer suitable employers a wage subsidy or employer
incentive to assist with employment and training costs.
Self Employment
If you are looking to start a new business or wanting to build on an exisiting one, our staff can help you with most aspects of running a business.
Job Maintenance
CHESS provides intensive one on one support for all clients in employment. Support and advice is provided for both participant and the employer.
