We would like to thank John Mandile for his dedication and passion in establishing and developing CHESS over the last 18 years. We wish him well in his future endeavours.

A Message from our General Manager

FRIENDS AND COLLEAGUES OF CHESS,
 
Throughout 2010 our 60 plus staff have continued to work alongside over 600 service participants with mental illness and other disadvantaged people.
 
Our services extend along the mid North Coast from Macksville to Yamba with offices in Nambucca Heads, Bellingen, Coffs Harbour, Woolgoolga, Grafton and Yamba. It has been extremely gratifying to work with people as they explore choice and opportunity for themselves and move forward in their personal recovery and wellbeing. Many will enter employment and seek worthwhile careers.
 
As the year draws to a close we are proud to share with you some of our key achievements for 2010.

A participant who has been on the PHaMs program from very early on is now ready to be completely independent.

The participant started out in the program living between the bush and a motel where anxiety and depression consumed his life to the degree he wanted to suicide. The Participant also lived with a heavy dependence on alcohol, severely impacting on their physical and mental health. The participant battled poor self esteem and the trauma of family breakdown......

CHESS provides a specialised employment service and a range of personal support programmes.

Our clients are either living with a mental health issue or dealing with other disadvantages. We prepare our clients for employment and maintain ongoing support. CHESS is part of a dedicated Disability Employment Service empowered to offer a range of personal rehabilitation programmes. CHESS provides a quality service that is responsive and individualised to our clients’ needs. Our organisation is innovative focusing on holistic solutions for a pathway to self reliance.
